All Types Of Tile Repairs

Would you trust a butcher to paint your home or a schoolteacher to repair tiles that are expensive in your shower or bathtub area?  Your bathroom is one (if not the most) expensive room in the house.  Tiles are very expensive today. When you have a problem with your bathroom tiles, you need to repair them immediately.  After all, you have to shower or take a bath. But not if you have crack, damage or missing tiles. So, who should you call?  You need a tile repairman specialist. And that is what we are known for. We are number 1 tile repair specialist in New York. The key to this operation is knowledge and proper tools for every occasion. There isn’t any situation we have not seen or a tile job we could not repair. We have the tools for every problem, and we never take a short cut. We fix it the correct way the first time. We do not run away from your problem, because your problem becomes our problem. And we resolve problems!

If your plumber changes your shower body, he leaves you with a hole in your wall with a piece of plastic over the hole. One of our specialties is replacing your backer board with cement board and reinstalling the tiles on your walls. In most cases your bathroom looks like new when we complete our task. If you have crack, damage or missing tiles, we will check the backer board and replace those tiles with new tiles. We take over your bathroom and make it our bathroom and we will not leave until the job is done.  Call Nick the Tile Man at 917-865-8693 today.

Extra Large Tile Installation

Can anyone install tiles?  Is there a difference between installing ceramic or porcelain tiles from glass tiles or natural stone tiles?

The answer to the first question is No!  You need to know how to start installing new tiles. Starting wrong will end up wrong and cause you problems all the way to the end when you find your tile lines do not line up.  So, where you start in the beginning is very important because you will need to know how your tiles will look before you even beginning.  Also, you have to use tools at the beginning like levels, chalk or pencil lines, and spacers.  Your tape measure will provide you the information necessary for calculating the proper distance needed to be left to right and up and down.

Now to answer the second question; yes, different tiles require different installation procedures.  Some tiles need specific type of thin-set mortar while others can use regular thin-set mortar or tile glue.  Some tiles require an additive in order to adhere to the thin-set mortar.  Some tiles require a water machine with a special water blade to cut the tile while other tiles can be cut simply with a slider diamond blade.  When you add up all the different scenarios, having the tile installation “know-how” and experience will allow you to succeed in transforming tiles to look like a work of art!  That is the difference between my staff “tile install specialists” and others who install tiles once in a while.

This is all we do, tile repair and new tile installation for your bathroom walls and floor, kitchen backsplash, and tile floors.  We will not take any short cuts.  We do the job once the right way and our goals are to make you (the customer) happy.  After all, how many times do you want to tile your bathroom or kitchen floor?  When you hire Nick the Tile Man you hire us to do your tiling job ONCE!  So why not call me at 917-865-8693.  Call Nick the Tile Man today!

Installing Natural Stone Tiles

Natural stone tile installation is the most delicate of all tiles to install.  And they require special handling. Natural stone tiles come in different shapes and sizes; some have a high gloss finish and other have a matte finish.  Some of the faces of the tiles are smooth, some have a texture feel to them while others have a rough, uneven surface to them.  But all require preventive maintenance.

Most of the natural stone tiles have not been sealed properly. Not adding the proper sealer can cause the tiles to dim, wear away and lose luster. Some natural stone tiles will require high grade oil-base sealer and as much as three coats before installation. Most of the times you will have to apply a sealer before you apply grout otherwise the color of the grout wail stains the natural stone tiles.

There are different thin-set mortars to install natural stone tiles and each different type of tiles may require a different installation procedure. All natural stone tiles are porous, so all require a sealer. Some of the natural stone tiles are granite, limestone, marble, sandstone and travertine.  Before you purchase natural sone tiles, you should know who your tile installer will be.  You need a tile install specialist who has experience, knowledge and know-how to install tiles. After all natural stone tiles are not cheap and you want to install them once in a lifetime. So, make sure you know your install or call me Nick The Tile Man at 917-865-8693. We will promote your project into a work of art!

Apply New Grout And Caulk For Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance goes a long way. If you take care of your bathroom tiles, your tiles will always look good.  Even as your bathroom becomes older in time, it still will look beautiful.  But you have to maintain the grout which holds all the tiles together preventing water, dirt and soap from eating your grout away.  If you have a hole in your grout line, water and other harmful elements can drip its way to the inside behind the tiles and eventually cause damage to your backer-board, wood or metal studs and insulation.

If you see that your grout is dirty, missing in spots and black, this is a sign that you need a tile repair specialist to remove all damage grout and apply new grout for preventive maintenance.  Its highly recommend hiring a tile repair specialist because this job is more important than it looks!  Everybody think that anybody can re-grout, correct?  WRONG!

If you do not remove the old grout properly, the new grout will not adhere to your tiles and will eventually fall out and your back with the same problem within a months’ time or even less.  And what about that black stuff?  Do you know what that is?  Its mold.  And it’s possible the mold is starting to grow from within your walls and beyond.  We have to remove and destroy the mold.  Otherwise, mold will grow back and make more holes in the grout.

Caulk is very important especially in the wet areas such as your shower and bathtub.  When caulk is applied, the area should be cleaned and wiped dry before caulk installation.  Also, if you applied fresh grout, you would have to wait two days before you apply caulk.  Applying caulk is tricky and difficult and requires an experience tile repair specialist.  So, hire someone who knows the signs of trouble and will fix your problem for years to come.  Call  Nick the Tile Man at 917-865-8693 before you become a victim of sickness!

Repairing leaks in bathroom walls, floors and shower pans

I think the worst thing that can happen to your bathroom is having a water leak in the bathroom shower and bathtub.  Sometimes it takes an experienced tile repair specialist to locate the leak and then repair the water damage.

First have a plumber check the water lines to make sure you don’t have any pin holes leaking. Then the plumber should check the waste lines to make sure you don’t have a hole in the waste line where water is leaking out. Once that’s fixed, you will need a tile repair specialist.

Sometimes a leak can be spotted and repaired with a re-grout and new caulk application. But most of the time (especially in showers with tiled floors) the problem is down below where you cannot see. The tile repair specialist will have to disassemble your shower doors, the threshold, remove the shower floor tiles, the cement and sand down to the existing pan. Yes, every shower has a pan to stop the water from going down to the room below.  But if there is a hole in the pan or it was poorly installed, your pan can leak.

We are tile mechanics who remove the damaged parts and reconstruct everything to look as good as new. If you have a leak in your shower or bathtub, call Nick the Tile Man at 917-865-8693 before the water destroys your entire bathroom!
