Most of the natural stone tiles have not been sealed properly. Not adding the proper sealer can cause the tiles to dim, wear away and lose luster. Some tiles will require high grade oil-base sealer and as much as three coats before installation. Most of the times you will have to apply a sealer before you apply grout otherwise the color of the grout wail stains the natural stone tiles.
There are different thin-set mortars to install natural stone tiles and each different type of tiles may require a different installation procedure. All natural stone tiles are porous so all require a sealer. Some of the tiles include granite, limestone, marble, sandstone and travertine. Before you purchase natural sone tiles, you should know who your tile installer will be. You need a tile install specialist who has experience, knowledge and know-how to install tiles.
